| Bissell's childhood began
much like millions of other middle class children. That is until
her parents divorced and her mother remarried. On her mother’s
wedding day Anne’s live took a dramatic turn for the worst.
Unbeknownst to anyone was Bissell’s new stepfather, the man
she looked up to and trusted, was a pedophile. The sexual abuse
she experienced as a child and young-adult led her down the path
to prostitution and drugs.
After years of counseling and therapy Bissell emerged from the
depths of the sex industry to become an activist committed to
helping others who have been sexual abused or afflicted by this
horrendous industry. To help her in her mission, Anne founded
and manages two non profit outreach network groups: Sex Industry
Survivors Anonymous and Voices for Justice.
“Every day, a child is exploited, every day, we look the
other way” says Bissell. “If I did not tell the truth
about what happened in my lifetime as a result of my own experiences
as an exploited child, it would be as if I too was looking the
other way. If no one tells the truth, the exploitation will become
the norm.”
Bissell hopes her popular new book: ‘Memoirs of a Sex Industry
Survivor’ will bring attention to the devastating effects
prostitution has on its victims. Juliet West, the main character
in Memoirs of a Sex Industry Survivor, is based on Anne's personal
experiences. The character’s main goal is to expose the inter-relationship
between childhood sexual abuse, promiscuity, and prostitution.

is immobilizing women around the United States, and worldwide.”

Credentials: Bissell
has studied women in the sex industry for nearly two decades.
She has delivered a message of hope and recovery into churches,
recovery homes, and jails to both prostituted survivors and victims
of other sex crimes. Anne is the author of ‘Memoirs of a
Sex Industry Survivor’ and founder of Sex Industry Survivors
Anonymous and Voices for Justice. She is media trained and has
appeared on countless Radio and TV shows including A Current Affair,
Geraldo, Fox Network News and Dr. Phil.
